Organic Cotton

Natural Fibers

At ToeSox, it’s important that we protect your feet, and our planet. That’s why we put your toes in sustainable, pesticide-free organic materials.  We are committed to finding fibers that make Happy Feet and a Happy Planet.

Why Organic Cotton?

Third-party certification organizations verify that organic producers use only methods and materials allowed in organic production. Organic cotton is grown using methods and materials that have a low impact on the environment.  Organic production systems replenish and maintain soil fertility, reduce the use of toxic and persistent pesticides and fertilizers, and build biologically diverse agriculture. The elimination of polluting and nitrogen leaching chemicals, done in combination with soil building, protects and conserves our water resources. (source: www.ota.org)

Facts

Cotton accounts for 50% of the world’s textile market. It takes some of the harshest chemicals to grow it conventionally, for instance:
  • It takes 1/3 pound of agricultural chemicals to produce one cotton t-shirt.
  • 25% of the world's insecticides are used in cotton production.
  • Many of the pesticides used are known human carcinogens.
  • Toxic runoff pollutes water and kills wildlife.

Pencil Pick Up

" Place a pencil on the floor in front of you at the same angle as the toes on your right foot, with the point on the pinky-toe side. Stand or sit on the edge of a chair with good posture and put your weight into your heel. Fan the toes out and wrap them around the pencil. If you can pick up the pencil, try to write your name with it on a piece of paper."
